Giles Daoust (Brussels, 1979) is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer,
based in Brussels and Los Angeles.
Through his film production company Title Media, he has written, produced and directed
three feature films: Last Night on Earth (Hollywood Film Festival, 2004), The Room
(Brussels Fantastic Film Festival, 2006) and Artefacts (Lionsgate, 2008). The former
generated a US remake, A Broken Life (Anchor Bay, 2009) starring Tom Sizemore and
As a writer, he has won several Awards for his screenplays.
Giles has worked with several prominent filmmakers, including Gavin Polone (producer of
Panic Room), Alain Berliner (Golden Globe-winning director of My Life in Pink), Pierre
David (producer of Videodrome) and Pascal Duquenne (Cannes Best Actor winner for the
Since 2006, he is also the director of the world-famous Ommegang show on Brussels
Grand Place. And, in a very different domain, he is also a Board Member of the family-
owned Belgian HR company Daoust sa/nv.
This photo exhibition, titled Nature Fantastique, is aimed at expanding Giles’ universe
as a ‘genre’ filmmaker into the photographic realm, searching for supernatural moods in
nature. The exhibition’s leitmotiv is: “Man has made the world so ugly, that we
sometimes have to look at the small things in order to find beauty.” It is not meant as
a pessimistic view of the world we live in, but rather as an encouragement to look closer,
and discover the small marvels that one can easily miss in today’s distracted and stressed-
